Take action with the Code of Conduct

The Tourism Child-Protection Code of Conduct is an industry-driven initiative to combat sexual exploitation of children in the travel and tourism industry. It promotes responsible and ethical business practices by raising awareness, providing tools and support to effectively prevent sexual exploitation of children. It challenges and encourages the tourism professionals to use their advantageous position to protect children’s rights by taking tangible actions. To learn more, visit www.thecode.org. To order Code Cards from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s Human Trafficking Roundtable, please email htroundtable@pcusa.org or call 212-697-4568.

One destination for trafficked children is soldiering.  Human Rights Watch reports that children under 18 are currently used as soldiers in at least 14 countries. UNICEF estimates that as many as 300,000 children are engaged in armed conflicts. This all takes place despite international laws that prohibit the use of children as soldiers.  Learn more and take action

Participate in the Campaign for Fair Food

Through the Campaign for Fair Food the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, farmworkers from south Florida, and consumers across the nation are insisting retail food corporations in grocery, fast-food and food service, work with farmworkers to end modern-day slavery in the fields and eliminate the poverty and lack of rights in which slavery flourishes.  You can learn more on the Fair Food website and take action by sending postcards to the CEOs of Publix, Kroger and Ahold supermarkets as well as dropping off manager’s letters urging the companies to work with the CIW when you shop at local stores.
